Can you help with trail work?
We are issuing a special call for your help. We maintain trails in Shenandoah National Park and in the GWNF North River District. We need help both places.
Our Club's section of the AT (Pinefield Gap to Ivy Creek Overlook). The wet weather this spring and the fire in SNP that burned part of our club's section of the AT a few years ago have caused everything to grow more than usual, especially briars. We want to keep our section in top shape for everyone from thru hikers to day hikers. Please join us for our June 8 work trip. We need to clip, weedeat, and clean waterbars. Malcolm Cameron, Bill Markunas, and Lori Sylvestri have scouted the trail and done some preliminary clipping and weed eating, but there is still a lot more to do. If you can't join our work trip, but would be able to work on your own, please let us know, and we will give you the necessary training and access to club tools. Contact: Malcolm Cameron
Shenandoah Mountain Trails
We accomplished a lot in Ramseys Draft Wilderness and several other trails on Shenandoah Mountain this past year, but the wet weather is causing rapid growth of vegetation. Also, there are still blowsdowns from ice and wind. We will be organizing work trips during the week to tackle some of the work. Please let us know if you want to receive announcements for work trips on Shenandoah Mountain. Contact: Lynn Cameron
