Saturday, June 21: Carr Mountain Work Day

6/19/2014

Join us on the last major work day completing our 6 mile section of the newest national scenic trail, the Great Eastern Trail.  We’ll finish the last sidehill project on the west end of the new trail, and work to improve some spots along the way where the tread is not yet wide enough.  After that we will carry the workbox and remaining tools back down the mountain.  If we have enough workers, we will hike up to Beech Lick Knob to hang more flagging tape, to ensure that hikers can find their way.   Meet at 9am at the park and ride, intersection of VA 259 and SR 820.  Please let Tom Johnson (johnts25@gmail.com) or Tim Hupp (Hupp_Tim@msn.com) know if you are coming.  If you haven’t been on a work trip recently, you will note how close we are to finishing this trail.
