Friday, May 1st: Dark Hollow Falls-Rose River Loop Trail
Moderate difficulty
A circuit hike of about 6 miles. We will start at Byrd Visitor Center parking, and descend along Dark Hollow Falls Trail before continuing on the Rose River Loop Trail to Fisher's Gap, where we will take the Skyland-Big Meadows Horse Trail back to the visitor center. Hike Leader: Pam Heinrich

Friday, May 1st to Sunday May 3rd: WFA & CPR Course Announcement
ATC is sponsoring a Wilderness First Aid and CPR course May 1 – 3 at Konnarock Basecamp. The course is free to active club maintainers. There are only16 free slots available. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis for those who submit a complete application packet. There will be a wait list for later applications.
Based on demand, there may be an opportunity for additional slots, however, participants must pay themselves. Individual course costs: CPR $80.00 WFA: $335.00

Friday, May 1st CPR 1800 to 2200 Optional for those needing CPR.
Saturday May 2nd: WFA 800 to 1700
Sunday May 3rd: WFA 800 to 1700
Note: Do not plan an early departure, you must be present the entire time.

Monday, May 4th: Elliott Knob In-Out
A 9.5 Mile 2400 ft elevation Gain, IN and Out Hike to the summit of Elliott Knob using the North Mountain Trail.
Elliott Knob at 4463 ft is one of the highest peaks in GW Forest , which has a stand of Red Spruce and a Fire Tower at its summit. Dress for the weather! Hiking Polls are recommended and don’t forget water, snacks and/or light lunch.. Hike limited to 12 and will send out updates to registered participants a few days ahead and sorry no dogs for this hike. Tuesday, May 5th: Cinco de Mayo Hike to Kaylor Knob and Beyond
6 miles.
We will should catch the peak blooms for Turkey Beard and Lady Slippers. Stop at a Mexican Restaurant for a late lunch or snack. Meet at the Park and Ride next to Mt Olivet Church on 33 across the main entrance of the Massanutten Resort at 9:00.

Thursday, May 7th: Rockfish Gap to Humpback AT Shuttle
This will be a moderate to strenuous 8.5-to-9-mile shuttle hike with 2 stream crossings and 1650 ft of elevation gain. Hike will be followed by an optional after hike rehydration at Blue Mountain Brewery. (And its Steel the Glass Day).
Dress for the weather! Hiking Polls are recommended and don’t forget water, snacks and/or light lunch. Possible wet water crossing at Mill Creek. Hike limited to 12 and will send out updates to registered participants a few days ahead and sorry no dogs for this hike. For 2026, I will be offering a series of hikes on the AT in the Southern District of Shenandoah National Park. My goal is to help others finish the trail in this area. I will help keep track of the ones you complete and offer hikes again if you miss one. Join me for any or all.
Hike #4 will be from Blackrock Gap to Wildcat Trail, approximately 5.6 Miles, moderate, shuttle hike. Meet at Wildcat Trail parking at 9:00 am.

Saturday, May 16th: Trial Maintenance - Loft Mountain Wayside
Kate Hoffmeyer and Bev Carver will be doing maintenance on their sections of the AT near Loft Mtn Wayside and would love some help. Kate will be doing delayed waterbar maintenance on her section. Bev mentioned wanting to construct several more side-hill drainages and also doing vegetation control - exact work is still to be determined.
They will meet at Loft Mtn Wayside at 9am or at Massanutten Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg at 8am to carpool. We will pick up tools for everyone.

Wednesday, May 20th: St Mary’s Wilderness Shuttle Hike
Moderately Strenuous Shuttle Hike of 7 miles with 325 ft of elevation gain and 1750 ft of elevation loss.
During our hike we will visit the old mining area and St Mary Falls. Be sure to bring water, lunch-snacks, hiking boots, and dress for the weather. Expect the 5+ stream crossings to be wet! (Most stepping stones have been washed away) And you might want to take a dip in the river so “Be Prepared”. Sorry No Dogs and being a Wilderness Area limits participation to 10. Approximately 13 miles and 3400 feet of elevation.
